The Secrets Behind Hollywood’s Top Bodies

August 31, 2010

Every couple of months we get to see the top celebrities wear their expensive tuxedos and dresses from all of the world’s top designers, but what really catches our eyes is how sexy they look and how much we would die to have a body just like theirs.  Let me be the first one to say that it’s not impossible to have a body just like your favorite celebrity but there are some things you ought to know if that is your plan.

Celebrities have a lot of stress when it comes to looking great, especially when you know that hundreds of cameras are going to be taking pictures of you from every possible angle. The pressure to look great is actually a key component to why they look good in the first place.

While pressure can very well create stress which will help to increase your cortisol(fat-adding hormone), it actually forces them to work with specific goals in mind to get the bodies they’re looking for.  That’s the number one secret behind a celebrities body. They have a specific goal and a specific deadline to accomplishing this goal.  So step one to getting a body worthy of the limelight is to set a realistic goal and have a realistic deadline for reaching that goal.

Secondly, they make time to get their workout in, no excuses.  It’s not so much they have the time to actually do it, but they focus on workouts that give them the best bang for their buck. Many celebrities are extremely busy believe it or not with 16 hour work shifts and they must get their 8 hours of sleep just to look fresh to do it all over again.  If they got 30 minutes to workout, they do as much work in that 30 minutes that they can, again making no excuses as to why they can’t get it done. Remember you have a goal to meet and a deadline to meet it by.

Lastly, they eat like rabbits. By this I don’t mean just eating one cracker and call it a day.  By that I mean they eat frequently but small portions.  Spreading out your meals will help you increase the amount of calories you’re burning.  The key to looking firm and toned is to have your body burning as many calories as you can and this is definitely an easy way of doing just that.

Here are some tips as far as making the most of your workout time:

·Lift moderate to heavy weights with short rest between sets.

·Perform Interval Cardio.(Alternating between high intensity cardio and low intensity cardio. For example, running at 8.0 for 1 minute and then jogging at 4.0 for 2 minutes and repeating it again for 4 to 6 rounds.)

·Select exercises that work a lot of muscle at once. (Squats, Pushups, Lunges, Seated Rows, Pullups, etc.)

With those take away tips and some of the celebrities top secrets to an A-list body, hit the gym hard, maintain your discipline at the lunch table and enjoy your new hot red carpet look.

Great Group Training Workout Today!

August 25, 2010

We had a great BYA Group Training Session today.

We had 12 clients. A good mix of men and women, young and own.

The women burned 700-900 calories.

The men burned 900-1,100 calories.

We used Ropes, Dumbbells, the Profitter 3-D Functional Trainer, Kettlebells, Slide-Boards, Medicine Balls, Core Balls. Olympic-Rings, Rubber Bands, Sledge-Hammers, Bodyweight and Sandbags.

Everyone had a great workout, and everyone said they had fun. Thanks to everyone who participated. We will put some videos online next week!

A little info on our BYA workouts:

These are great anaerobic workouts, that focus on maintaining or even building lean muscle tissue, which is your metabolism and burning as much fat as possible. We accomplish both of these by working hard one body part for a certain time, and then resting for a certain time, then rotating to another body part.

This allows you to recover the body-part you worked, while keeping your heart-rate and breathing up. This allows for max strength recovery, and max calories burned.

The coaches keep you working at your own person max level, without injuring yourself.

If this is the type of workout you are looking for, then you should contact or stop into Go: Fitness for more information.

Intervals: The Cutting Edge

August 22, 2010

During my recent contest prep I was asked a very simple question, and of course it involved a very simple answer. “Hey you must do a lot of cardio huh?” Now for those of you who know me, know that my “keep it real” meter is always very high, so no one was surprised with a blunt answer, but very surprised with the word I use...”NOPE” . My cardio sessions honestly only lasted maybe 15-20 min if I was lucky. Sure it was a very tough and intense 15-20 min, but 15-20 none the less.

I can’t help but notice no matter what gym I walk into, I see the same thing over and over and over. This “cardio person” we’ve all seen them, it’s like they’re robots, all have different clothes and hair, but their actions and results are identical!

Action: Running along (at a leisure pace) listening to their iPod watching whatever is on TV… 25-30 min later step off treadmill wipe down machine, go home.

Result: Nothing….. (Unless you are getting ready for a marathon, or a long distance run) but let’s “keep it real”, most of us come to the gym to tone up, look and feel good. Running at this steady state really isn’t going to get you the results you are looking for; it’s going to keep your body in a catabolic state, where intervals will put you in an anabolic state.

Now of course I went the interval route…

Action: After discussing a plan with Nick, Lyndsi, and Brad. We decided to start off with a simple 3min warm up (after medicine ball warm up) followed by 10 min of intervals, and then a cool down. That’s it! Now for the 1st couple weeks during the interval I went 30sec on 30 sec off. Then Lyndsi suggested cranking it up to 1 min on 45 off. Now during these intervals I mixed in sprints, and bike. After a couple weeks there we switched to 1 min on 30 sec off. It was during this time I would make a switch from sprints, bike, and then stairs. The final 2 weeks intervals were 1 min on 15 sec off. Of course mixing in sprints, bike, and stairs

Result: Going from 9% body fat to 4.03% body fat.

Now I’m results driven, and I also don’t like cardio. Soooo to me it only makes sense to get the results you’re looking for while not wasting time running on a treadmill like a hamster on a wheel. Keep in mind, during your intervals; you really have to push it. By the end of my intervals I was completely done, if you’re not, well then you prolly need to check yourself and see how hard you’re really working.

If you would like more information on Intervals, or getting the results you’re looking for stop by and ask one of the Go Fitness Coaches and we’ll be glad to explain and help.

As always “Keep it Real” – Coach Joe
