Interval Training Class Reviews

October 15, 2009

“Everyone should give cardio interval training a shot. I’ve only been doing it for a week (only three times this week) and it is quite a workout!  I typically burn burn at least 200 calories in 20 minutes and my heart is pumping! The time flies by because I am more focused on my heart rate and the short intervals (only 30 seconds to one minute).  It sure beats 40+ minutes of running.  I feel much more productive and it gets my heart pumping for the day.  give it a try… You’ll be glad you did! By the way…I’ve never run before in my  life!!!”

“I thought I had a good grasp on interval training, but after attending the seminar with Nick and Charlie, I realized I knew nothing. Nick gave us a simple equation to figure our Maximum Heart Rate and then took us through a sample interval workout. It was easy to translate the workout to any machine just by using a heart rate monitor. As a marathon runner, I often wondered why I never lost any weight despite running what seemed like a million miles a week. Nick explained that interval training can be done in conjunction with training for long distances.

Nick was so knowledgeable about this subject. For example, I learned that after cardiovascular exercise or weight training, the body continues to need oxygen at a higher rate than before the exercise began. This sustained oxygen consumption is known as Excess Postexercise Oxygen Consumption (EPOC). Because the body continues to expend energy after exercise, EPOC plays a supplemental role to an exercise program in weight management.

I am so glad I attended this very informative seminar. The fact that Go Fitness sees the importance of educating its clients in this way makes the membership all the more worthwhile.”
