Why you won’t end up looking like ‘The Hulk’

There is a common myth floating around that so many ladies out there are falling victim to:  “If I lift weights consistently, I’ll get bulky”.  THIS IS NOT TRUE.  A lifting regiment that is customized to your personal goals (written and applied by your trainer) can not only improve your total body fitness, it can also keep you just as lean and mean as you want to be.

How is this true?  Let’s focus on a topic every exercising woman cares about: Calories.  We all understand that burning calories trims a body out.  The higher the calorie count during exercise the better.  But wait, there’s another piece to this puzzle.  What about the other 23 hours of the day?  A recent study by The Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research has found that women who completed an hour-long strength-training workout burned an average of 100 more calories in the 23 hours afterward than if they had only done cardio.  How is this possible?  By including more muscle groups at a higher intensity the body takes more time and energy to recover.  Simply put, 3 weight training sessions a week equals 15,600 ‘free’ calories a year!  To finish things off, understand that muscle is metabolically active.  That’s a fancy way of saying 10 pounds of muscle will burn 50 additional calories a day than 10 pounds of fat.  So sharpening up your shoulders, arms and back will happily add to that total body burn.

Reality is that to accomplish all of this is to do it properly.  Our coaches are educated, well versed and practiced in proving that total body fitness can improve your abilities, add to your overall health and help you achieve those goals.  Contact our staff, your consultation awaits…
